
Kavitha Janardhan is a labor and employment and litigation attorney with nearly 20 years of experience representing both employers and professionals in employment and disciplinary disputes.
Kavitha has extensive experience representing employers as an advisor and litigator. She provides day-to-day strategic counseling to her clients, including the creation or review of employment policies and procedures. In her role as a litigator, Kavitha zealously defends clients facing allegations of wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, whistleblower complaints, and wage and hour disputes.
Kavitha has also built a highly regarded reputation for her representation of individuals in professional licensing and disciplinary matters before the Office of Professional Discipline (OPD) and Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC). She understands that when clients such as doctors, nurses, physician assistants, professors and social workers are charged with misconduct, everything is at stake. She takes pride not only in her formidable courtroom advocacy, but also in her commitment to safeguard the careers and legacies of her clients.
Experience
Kavitha's professional background provides her with the rare ability to understand complex legal issues from the perspective of both employers and employees – and seek the best possible resolutions. She began her career at a globally recognized (AmLaw100) law firm in Chicago, IL, specializing primarily in management-side counseling and litigation. She continues to counsel and represent employers in all aspects of labor and employment matters, including employee discipline, handbook policies, employment agreements, and wage and hour issues. Recognized for her experience, Kavitha is frequently called upon by employers as an external investigator for employee complaints.
Kavitha provides advice and representation to professionals in matters relating to wrongful termination, non-renewal/denial of tenure in academic appointments, discrimination (including failure to accommodate disabilities), and retaliation. Kavitha offers a balanced, yet proactive approach resolving workplace concerns.
In addition to her career in employment law, Kavitha also has experience in Trademark Prosecution, Trademark Infringement, Trade Secret Litigation, and Complex Commercial Litigation.
Background
Originally from a diverse city in New Jersey, Kavitha currently lives in Baldwinsville, New York with her husband, who is a college professor at a local university, and their two children. In addition to her practice, she provides pro bono services through the Volunteer Lawyers Project of Central New York and serves on the Board of Directors for the CNY Diaper Bank.
