September 27, 2024, marked the first Girls Rule the Law Youth Conference hosted at Syracuse University College of Law. Girls Rule the Law is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring young women to pursue careers in law and leadership.
Young women from Syracuse attended the conference to learn from women actively working in the legal profession. Featured speakers included Mirna Santiago, founder of Girls Rule the Law, Inc., Deputy Chief Administrative Judge Edwina Richardson, and keynote speaker Jenny Rivera, Associate Judge of the Court of Appeals.
Bousquet Holstein attorney Mazaher Kaila participated in the panel discussion “From Law School to Lawyering: Millennials and Gen Z in the Legal Profession.” Along with her peers, Mazaher answered audience questions about leadership, daily life as an attorney, and ways for students to distinguish themselves among their peers.
“Don't fixate too much about standing out,” answered Mazaher. “Instead, pour your energy into yourself; what your strengths are and what your weaknesses are — and work on those weakness, because naturally, that will set you apart.”
The conference wrapped up with speed mentoring sessions, where BH attorneys Kavitha Janardhan and Maria Zumpano Withrow provided guidance and advice to students.
Bousquet Holstein's sponsorship allowed for live captioning services at the event. We are proud we could support the conference, both in sponsorship and attorney participation, helping to inspire the next generation of leaders.
