Chanelle Gooden is a law school graduate assisting in Bousquet Holstein's Brownfields and Corporate Practice Groups while she awaits the results of the New York State Bar Exam.
Background
Chanelle is returning to Bousquet Holstein after completing both the 2023 and 2024 Summer Associate programs. In her previous tenure, she supported attorneys in tax, trusts and estates, business, labor and employment, and trademark law. Her responsibilities included legal research, drafting, reviewing documents, and attending client meetings and court proceedings.
Originally from New York City, Chanelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, cum laude, from Le Moyne College, and her Juris Doctor from Western New England School of Law.
Chanelle gained additional experience as a Family Law Intern with the Volunteer Lawyers Project of Central New York, where she assisted with custody and child support petitions, and conducted client intakes. She also served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Judge Badamo in New York County Criminal Court through the Sonia and Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program. In this role, she attended arraignments and pre-trial hearings, reviewed case files, and participated in chambers discussions. The program further enhanced her research and writing skills and offered professional development opportunities through lecture series led by attorneys and judges across practice areas.
While in law school, Chanelle participated in the Community Legal Aid Clinic as a Rule 3:03 Certified Student Attorney, drafting divorce documents, separation agreements, and motions to the court under the supervision of licensed attorneys. She also participated in the Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Law Moot Court Competition, served as a TA, the Media & Marketing Coordinator for the Black Law Student Association, and represented her peers as a 2L and 3L Representative for the Student Bar Association.
