Julia Copperwheat, law student at Syracuse College of Law

Julia K. Copperwheat has completed her first year of law school at Syracuse University College of Law and will be joining us in the firm's Syracuse office this summer. Prior to her legal studies, Julia worked as a financial advisor and Manager of Onboarding and Development at Equitable in Syracuse, New York. She is a FINRA Registered Investment Advisor and a Credentialed Holistic Financial Coach through Columbia University. Julia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Urban Studies from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. After graduating from Furman, Julia taught Secondary Math in Cincinnati, Ohio through Teach for America, where she also led professional development for teachers in trauma-informed care.

Susan C. Fendt has completed her first year of legal studies at Cornell Law School and will be working primarily out of the firm's Ithaca office this summer. During her first year of law school, Susie served as a 1L Representative for several student organizations including the Women of Color Coalition and the Business Law Society. Susie earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2022. Prior to her legal studies, Susie gained diverse financial experience at KPMG and Ernst & Young in NYC, and Whitestone Associates LLC in Centerport, New York.

Chanelle Gooden, law student at Western New England University School of Law.

Chanelle Gooden returns to the firm's Syracuse office this summer as she enters her final year at Western New England University School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts. She is a 3L representative for the Student Bar Association and previously served on the Executive Boards of the Black Law Student Association and Women’s Law Association. Chanelle completed our 1L Summer Associate program and has completed legal internships through community clinics, as well as the Sonia and Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program and a Judicial Internship for the Honorable Judge Badamo in New York County Criminal Court. She also competed in the International Trademark Association (INTA) Moot Court Competition. Chanelle graduated from Le Moyne College in 2022 with a B.A. in Criminology and a Minor in Legal Studies.

Olivia S. Murphy will be entering her final year of law school at Syracuse University College of Law and will work out of the firm's Syracuse office this summer. Throughout her time in law school, Olive has gained legal experience through her time in law offices, as well as her volunteer work through SUCOL's Cold Case Justice Initiative, Veterans Legal Clinic, and Volunteer Advocate Lawyer for Animal Abuse Court in Syracuse. Her article on drug detection dogs and traffic stops was recently selected for publication in the Syracuse Law Review (vol. 75). Olive graduated summa cum laude from University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Anthropology.
