Nicholas Schmitt is an Associate attorney in the firm's Syracuse office. He works with our Brownfield, Corporate, Litigation, and Real Estate Practice Groups.
Nick earned his Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where he developed practical legal skills through several hands-on internships, including our 2023 Summer Associate Program. In these roles, he assisted attorneys with legal research, drafting, and case preparation across a wide range of litigation areas, including trusts and estates, taxation, insurance, and other civil matters. His time as a summer associate provided meaningful exposure to complex legal issues and allowed him to contribute to active cases alongside experienced practitioners.
During law school, Nick was an active member of the trial team, where he honed his advocacy skills by participating in mock trial competitions across the country. These experiences deepened his understanding of courtroom procedures and strengthened his ability to think quickly and argue effectively under pressure.
In addition to his academic and legal pursuits, Nick served as the Assistant Chairperson of the Conquest Planning Board. In that role, he played a key part in drafting a new comprehensive plan that addressed zoning regulations and land use policies designed to support the town’s long-term development.
Originally from Cato, New York, Nick enjoys watching college football and spending quality time with his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews.
