Since joining the firm’s Tax Practice Group in 2018, Sayles has focused his practice on tax incentives related to New York State's Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) and the federal Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Throughout his career, Sayles has helped secure over $250 million in tax credits through the BCP by advising clients on the benefits of the program, calculating potential for credits, and successfully defending claims with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Sayles frequently lectures and writes about the benefits of these programs and analyzes the legislative changes that impact them.

Sayles earned his Juris Doctor with honors from George Washington University Law School, and a bachelor's degree in economics and mathematics, graduating magna cum laude from Colgate University. While obtaining his law degree, Sayles interned for the Honorable Susan G. Braden, Chief Judge of the Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C., and the Honorable Heidi M. Pasichow of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Sayles has been repeatedly recognized by Super Lawyers Upstate New York as a Rising Star from 2021-2023, a distinction reserved for attorneys who demonstrate outstanding achievements early in their careers.
