Background
Prior to joining Bousquet Holstein, Thomas Barrett had over four years of valuable experience in Education, Contract, Commercial, and Public Officers Law, representing clients in various sectors, including school districts and public entities. His work involved providing comprehensive legal counsel, reviewing policies, and skillfully guiding clients through complex processes such as school district leasing, the sale of vacant properties, and compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks. Thomas also managed contract disputes, as well as the negotiation and drafting of Solar PILOT Agreements.
A repeat speaker at the New York State Council of School Superintendents, he shared his expertise on education law and governance, frequently addressing audiences on best practices in legal compliance, district operations, and effective administrative decision-making.
Thomas earned his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School and holds a bachelor's degree from Le Moyne College. During law school, he completed internships with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and Global Foundries in their Commercial, Employment, and Corporate Law departments, gaining valuable exposure to both public and private legal frameworks and enhancing his practical legal skills. He is a Notary Public, a licensed Real Estate Broker, and actively engaged in professional development initiatives.
