Laura T. Hedge

Laura regularly appears in New York State Supreme Courts and Family Courts, where she zealously advocates for clients across all areas of domestic relations and family law. Her practice includes matters such as divorce, equitable distribution, custody, parental access, child support, and enforcement proceedings. In addition, she handles nuanced Family Court and Surrogate’s Court cases, including abuse and neglect proceedings and contested adoptions.

Outside the courtroom, Laura is a skilled and trusted advisor. She explores creative solutions to resolve complicated matters, often through negotiating and drafting financial and custodial settlement agreements. She also prepares prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Moreover, Laura has experience with international and cross-border family law issues, representing both foreign and domestic clients.

Laura’s practice also extends to estate planning. With a knowledgeable and thoughtful approach, she identifies each client's individual needs and helps families plan for the future. Thanks to over a decade of experience in complex matrimonial law and litigation, she brings a unique perspective to estate planning. She anticipates potential challenges, protects assets, and helps clients navigate delicate family dynamics.

Experience

Before relocating to Ithaca with her family and joining the firm in 2022, Laura practiced in New York City throughout her career. There, she focused on complex, high-net-worth matrimonial and family law litigation. She now applies that extensive experience to her Ithaca-based practice, which also serves surrounding counties. As a result, she has become a trusted and sought-after attorney in the Finger Lakes region.

Despite the move, Laura has maintained strong professional ties to New York City and continues to serve clients in the Metropolitan Area. Her peers have repeatedly recognized her excellence—she was named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in New York City and later Upstate New York for eight consecutive years. In 2024, she was honored in Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch.
