Bousquet Holstein PLLC has announced the finalists and winners of its 2015 Beauty, Charm and Joy 7th Annual Photography Contest. The finalists were recognized and the winners of the competition were announced at a reception at the Everson Museum of Art on October 28, 2015.

The first place winning image titled “In Touch” was taken by Madolyn DiCaprio,a senior at Marcellus High School, at the New York State Fair Butterfly Exhibit. Her art/photography teacher is Tara Charles. The Second Place image titled “Lexi” was taken by Katie Tzivanis, a junior at Jamesville-DewittHigh School, and portrayed her friend in a field. Her art/photo teacher is Lisa Troubetaris. The third place image titled “A Golden Destiny” was taken by Jordan Sturgen, a junior at Tully High School, at early sunrise in Wilmington Beach, NC. His art/photo teacher is Virginia Killmore

This year 291 images were submitted by students from 12 different Syracuse and Onondaga County schools. Judges included representatives of the Everson Museum of Art, and members and staff of the law firm. The winning student received a scholarship check for $500 and her school art/photo department received a donation of $500 from the firm. The second and third place winners also received scholarship awards. The firm’s annual photography contest is open to City of Syracuse and Onondaga County High School students in grades 9 through 12.

Each year the firm uses an exhibit at the Everson Museum of Art to create a theme for the photo contest. This year’s theme, “Beauty, Charm and Joy,” was inspired by The Three Graces exhibition currently on display at the Everson Museum, featuring the art of Carrie Moyer, Tony Feher, and Polly Apfelbaum as well as important works from the Everson’s permanent collection. Students were encouraged to use composition, color, texture and shape to depict their subject(s) using a detail, a close-up, or any approach in a creative and playful way to represent the theme in their images.

Each year Bousquet Holstein features the winning image on its annual Thanksgiving card with a short biography about the student photographer. Click here to see all images: 2015 Photo Contest Finalists
