Bousquet Holstein PLLC is pleased to announce the 2022 finalists and winners of its 14th annual scholarship photography contest for local high school students in Onondaga and Tompkins Counties.

This year's first place winner is “Burning Time” by Anthony Ahn, a senior at Fayetteville-Manlius High School. His art/photography teacher is Brittany Culican. Second place went to “Old Existence” taken by Morgan Myers of Marcellus High School. Her teacher is Tara Charles. Third place was awarded to Julianna Hall from Fayetteville-Manlius High School for her photograph “Girl Boss.” Her teacher is also Brittney Culican.

“Burning Time” by Anthony Ahn was this year's first place contest winner and was featured as the cover of the firm's Thanksgiving card.
“Old Existence” by Morgan Myers was awarded second place in this year's contest.
“Girl Boss” taken by Julianna Hall was awarded third place in this year's contest.

Bousquet Holstein awarded Ahn a $500 scholarship for his winning photograph and made it the cover of the firm's annual Thanksgiving Card sent to over 7,000 clients and contacts – a tradition since the contest's inception 14 years ago.

Our firm also gave scholarships to the second and third place winners, as well as a $500 donation to Ahn's art/photography class.

Every year, the contest is assigned a theme based on an exhibit at the Everson Museum of Art. This year's theme was “Forever is Composed of Nows,” an exhibit inspired by an Emily Dickenson poem of the same name. Student photographers were challenged to capture the essence of their “now” – with the emotions, objects, persons, and places that express the photographer’s place in the infiniteness of forever.

All 165 entries were judged on their composition, imagination, relevance to theme, and creativity of content by a panel of artists, teachers, photographers, and attorneys. This year's winners and finalists were announced during a virtual celebration on November 16.

For the past 14 years, Bousquet Holstein has hosted this photography contest to support education and the arts in our community. Some past winners and finalists of the contest have gone on to study photography in college, and some have made photography a career after graduation.

With offices in both Syracuse and Ithaca, the annual Bousquet Holstein Photography Contest is open for high school students in Onondaga County and Tompkins County. Each year the firm receives hundreds of entries and recognizes more than 20 finalists.
