Ryan Suser, a Member and Litigation Attorney in the firm’s Family Law / LGBTQ+ practice, has perfected an appeal in the Appellate Division for the Fourth Department.  The appeal, which will be argued on November 20, 2019 in Rochester, concerns the ability of a “non-biological” parent to obtain standing to seek visitation or custody with respect to a child Ryan’s client helped raise.  Suser won the case after several days of trial before a Court Attorney Referee in Utica, and it was overturned by the Family Court on review.  If successful, Suser will help expand the state of the law in New York regarding custody and visitation for same-sex parents.  .
