Thomas Taylor has been presented with the SUNY Upstate Medical University President’s Award for Distinguished Service. Tom joined the Upstate University Council following appointment by the Governor in 2010 and has served as Interim Chair of the Council since 2014.  In his role on the Council, he has endeavored to engage with all members of the University.  At the request of SUNY Chancellor Zimpher, Mr. Taylor chaired the Search Committee for Upstate’s current President.

During her remarks, Dr. Danielle Laraque-Arena, President of SUNY Upstate, stated that “Tom’s calm and wise leadership was important to Upstate as it transitioned to new leadership. His support during this transition was invaluable both to myself and to the University. He is currently working with our Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning and Regional Strategy to provide further opportunities for dialogue with constituencies locally, nationally and internationally with a goal toward elevating Upstate Medical University’s presence as the premier academic health science university. His commitment extends to all of the Deans and senior leadership at Upstate in support of the clinical, academic and research missions”.
