Collections Specialist

Salary Range: $25.65/hr. – $29.75/hr.

We are currently seeking a full-time experienced Collections Specialist and invite candidates from historically underrepresented groups in the legal community to apply.

Primary Responsibilities will include working with attorneys and legal staff in the following areas:

  • Collection of outstanding accounts receivable balance in regard to payment due dates.
  • Making collection calls to clients in a professional manner while improving and preserving client relations.
  • Identify issues regarding client payment delinquency and discuss options for payment arrangements that work for them and Bousquet Holstein.
  • Coordinate solutions to any client payment challenges with relevant Partners/Office Manager.
  • Solve client service problems, explain charges, research issues in the client’s account.
  • Provide timely follow-up on client payment solutions.
  • Ensure clients remain informed on their outstanding payments and deadlines.
  • Issue monthly Reminder Statements.
  • Reporting on billing and collection activities to relevant Partners.
  • Process credit memos.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relative experience
  • Proven work experience as a Collections Specialist, preferably within the legal field or professional services environment
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
  • Extensive computer and database expertise to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with document management programs (Filesite) and Aderant legal software a plus.

Accounting and Billing Specialist

  • Provide prebill (work in progress) reports to assigned billing professionals monthly
  • Generate firm invoices from prebills edited by billing professionals
  • Process client disbursements and firm vendor payments
  • Meet with the attorneys to review client billing & collections
  • Assist with collection of client receivable balances
  • Update client billing data as requested
  • Answer client/attorney inquiries regarding invoices and accounts receivable balances
  • Apply client payments to ensure accurate accounts receivable balances
  • Performs detailed account reconciliation as needed to resolve and bring closure to disputed receivables.
  • Generate monthly receivable statements for outstanding receivable balances
  • Manage client retainer and escrow accounts
  • Reconcile general ledger on a daily basis
  • Other related duties as assigned or requested

Tax and Development Finance Attorney

Bousquet Holstein, PLLC, a mid-sized law firm with offices in Syracuse and Ithaca, NY with a variety of local, regional, national, and international clients, is seeking to hire an attorney experienced in federal taxation and in ownership and equity structures for business transactions and real estate development projects, including federal and New York State tax credit transactions.

Experience: 

We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Tax-informed structuring of commercial real estate (including multifamily) development transactions;
  • Formation of limited liability companies, partnerships, corporations, and other business entities, including experience with allocation structures for multi-tiered LLCs/partnerships to achieve economic agreements among project owners and investors;
  • Transaction and project financing experience with developers, investors, lenders, governmental agencies, and bond issuers;
  • Planning, negotiating, and structuring project finance involving federal business tax credits (e.g., green energy/investment, low-income housing, and rehabilitation (historic properties) tax credits), state tax credits (NYS tax credit experience in particular), and other state and local economic development programs and incentives; and
  • Merger and acquisition transaction structuring and financing.

Required Competencies:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York State
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Additional consideration may be given to candidates having a degree or experience in taxation (including LL.M), accounting, finance, economics, or other quantitative disciplines 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Dedication to client service, strong quantitative skills (including use of Excel), and tenacity and stamina when problem solving.

In addition to being admitted to practice in New York, candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in estate and trust planning and administration.

Bousquet Holstein seeks an attorney for its Matrimonial/Family Law group. This position will be located in Ithaca, NY.

The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of matrimonial and family law litigation experience.
